Experiment of flow field in lobed mixer

  • In order to obtain the three-dimensional flow field of afterburner lobed mixer, a five-hole probe with thermocouple was applied to measure the flow field of the lobed mixer. The velocity and temperature fields in different sections at the lobed mixers outlet were obtained in the experiments, and the change rules of the thermal mixing efficiency and the total pressure recovery coefficient in the flow direction were measured. The experimental results indicate that a pair of inverse direction streamwise vortexes are generated in the trailing edge of lobed mixer, which strengthens the degree of the mixed convection between inner bypass and external bypass. The closer to the trailing edge of the lobed mixer, the greater the mixing degree of the flow between inner bypass and external bypass, the quicker the thermal mixing efficiency increasing, the faster the total pressure recovery coefficient declining.
