Design and experiment of hydraulic amplified direct drive valve based on giant magnetostrictive material

  • A novel direct drive electro-hydraulic servo valve was proposed based on magnetostrictive material and hydraulic amplification mechanism. The frequency response of the servo valve was greatly enhanced with a considerable volume flow rate maintained. A series of structure design and analysis were conducted via finite element method and fluid mechanics theory, meanwhile, a prototype of the magnetostrictive direct drive valve was fabricated. A magneto-mechanical-hydro coupled model was established within AMESim environment, both the numerical simulation and experimental result indicated that the proposed magnetostrictive direct drive valve approached a bandwidth higher than 100Hz; the load volume flow rate reached 30L/min under a system pressure of 21MPa.
