Experiment of flow field characteristics in a lean premixed prevaporized low emission combustor

  • Particle image velocimetry (PIV) was applied to measure flow field characteristics in lean premixed prevaporized (LPP) low emission combustor with twin annular swirling multi-point direct injection (TAMI) dome. Influences on non-combustion and combustion of the mean parameters, such as vorticity, turbulent intensity and shear strain rate, were studied separately. And the influences of different inlet conditions on the combustion flow field were also investigated. The experimental results show that the recirculation zone dimension of combustion flow field is far less than that of non-combustion one, and the mean parameters change significantly. The recirculation zone is shorter and wider with the increase of inlet fuel-air ratio, but longer and narrower with the increase of inlet air mass. These experimental results contribute to the design of LPP low emission combustor.
