Before a gas turbine is designed, many candidate designs with different values of designparameters must be studied. Calculation of design and off-design performances of proposedengines is needed, but actual component maps do not exist. In this paper, new scaling laws are developed and shown to produce component maps and estimates of new engine performanceswhich are predicted to be close to the actual values. This "elasticity"model is based on the fundamental operating principles of the components.
