Abstract

The computer time and storage necessary for structure finite-element analysis are mainly dependent on the bandwidth of the general rigidity matrix [K], if its dimension is fixed. According to the sparse characteristic of the general rigidity matrix and the principle of decreasing matrix bandwidth, an optimization of element node serial number is provided. It is simple and suitable for different elements, not only for the single-loop, but also for the multi-loop.
