CORRELATION BETWEEN CONDENSED PHASE REACTION AND BURNING RATE OF AP/HTPB PROPELLANT

  • The effects of transition metal oxides TMO on the thermal decomposition characteristics of AP and AP/HTPB propellants and on the burning rates of AP/HTPB and AP/Al/HTPB propellants are studied.The results show that the burning rate of AP/Al/HTPB/TMO propellant depends on the thermo-decomposition characteristics of AP/TMO and burning rate of AP/HTPB/TMO propellant depends on the thermo-decomposition characteristics of itself.The results also indicate that the aluminum decreases the burning rate of the propellant.It is suggested that the aluminum reduce the rate of condensed phase reactions and the stress effect of AP thermal decomposition properties on the burning rate of aluminized propellant.
