The comprehensive condition monitoring has been proposed by the anthors with six kinds of condition monitoring methods:temperature,vibration,noise,ferrography,infrared spectrum and surface roughness.The research on combined application of these methods has been conducted on a gear test machine(Type CL 100)to develop the technique,method,theory and application of the comprehensive condition monitoring.The comprehensive condition monitoring research is integreted with the pull life experiment.Some of primary experiemental results given in this paper show that the comprehensive condition monitoring with the various methods is much better than that only with one or two methods,especially for monitoring all forms of machine component surface damage such as pitting,wearing and so on.
