Abstract A general nonlinear finite element code has been applied to thermoelastic stress analysis of directionally solidified air cooled turbine blades.Therefrom characteristic constants of Ni base superalloys DZ 22 have been analyzed and determined.A constitution model for transversely isotropic materials is established.According to sophisticated construction of the air cooled turbine blade and maximum regime of its ground start, the calculation of its centrifugal stress, thermal stress and sum equivalent stress comprising aerodynamic loads is accomplished by using eight noded brick elements, and automatic mesh generation and postprocessing of computed results are carried out.
