A semi closed bomb with 100MPa pressure limits was designed to investigate the ignition transient,flame spreading,and pressure wave propagation in a packed bed of granular propellant charge.The influences of parameters such as propellant properties,porosity,and blow out diaphragm thickness on the convective burning characteristics were examined.The 1-D pressure wave propagation was observed in the experiment.The dynamic impaction of the bed exists during the flame spreading process,which is a main factor to cause the pressure wave.The 1-D combustion wave can not be formed in the bed with low loading density.
