EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION ON FULL COVERAGE DISCRETE HOLE FILM COOLING

  • A heat shield with full coverage discrete hole film cooling has practical application in some afterburners.Effects of geometric parameters and flow parameters of the heat shield on effectiveness of film cooling were investigated experimentally.A convective heat transfer coefficient of the film cooling was defined as hg=qc/(Tg-Tw) ,where q c is heat flux obtained by solving heat balance equation for the tested plate with discrete holes,and Tg and Tw are gas temperature and tested plate wall temperature,respectively.A semiempirical expression for calculating heat transfer coefficient is provided for a given diameter of the discrete holes and their distribution.It might be useful to calculating heat shield temperature.
