Numerical Study on Flow and Heat Tranfer in Shrouded Rotating Disk System with Central Air Inflow

  • The mixing length model and conjugation calculation were applied to the numerical simulation for the fluid flow and heat transfer process in a rotating shrouded disk with central coolant inlet.Comparison the simulation results with experiments indicates that the mixing length model gives quite reasonable prediction.Numerical simulation shows that:(1)the location of the maximum Nusselt number was offset from the stagnation point at a certain distance;(2)the heat transfer was enhanced with the increase of rotating speed and coolant flow rate.
