Experimental Investigation of Turbulence Characteristics in a Turbine Vane Cascade

  • The characteristics of turbulent flow in a high pressure turbine cascade were investigated experimentally.The mean velocity,fluctuating velocity and the correlation factor of Reynolds shear stress were measured by means of two dimensional hot wire,within the several pitch/streamwise planes.The test Reynolds number based on the incoming flow and the blade chord was 100000.The measured results were analyzed in conjunction with the flow fields mapped by using five hole probe.In result,the distribution of turbulence parameters in the passage of cascade was found.The experimental results show that the turbulent flow near the endwall of the turbine cascade is to be fairly isotropic.There are turbulence cores within the passage vortex and horseshoe vortex,in which the turbulence intensity and Reynolds shear stress are quite high.
