Mathematical Model to Simulate Centrifugal Compressor Performance in Design and off-Design Regimes

  • A rapid and simplified mathematical model used to simulate the centrifugal compressor was developed.In the mathematical model,the compressor is divided into several sections,and the parameters in the sections are calculated using iterative method.The stagger grid is used in the region between the impeller exit and diffuser inlet to guarantee accurate simulation.Predicted compressor performance is compared with experimental data for Krain's compressor.The predicted results using 3-D Navier-Stokes equations are also presented for comparison.It is shown that the mathematical model can properly simulate the centrifugal compressor performance.
