Numerical Simulation of Two-Phase Turbulent Combustion in a 3-D Afterburner

  • The two-phase turbulent combustion in a three dimensional afterburner for a turbofan aeroengine was numerically investigated.The afterburner had two ring flame stabilizers and two rows of radial flame stabilizer.The two-fluid model was used for the two-phase flow.The standard k-ε turbulence model was employed.The average chemical reaction rate was approximated by the Eddy-Break-Up (EBU) model.The calculation was performed using the LEAGAP algorithm. The results indicated that the afterbuner was designed reasonably,and the combustion in it was quite good.
