  • Experiments were conducted in laboratory to investigate the effects of platform friction dampers on resonant stresses in gas turbine blades. The results show that the resonant response can be attenuated greatly through the use of friction dampers for the fundamental bending mode of the blade. The decrease of the response can be as large as more than 70% by optimizing the mass of damper, which should be increased with the magnifying of excitation force level.Platform friction damper is an effective measure to reduce the blade vibration in gas turbine.
