An Analysis of the Effectiveness of One Pass Cross-Flow Finned Tube Bundle Heat Exchangers

Using the method of weighted mean value of outside fluid temperature along with the Laplace transformation and recursive procedure,an analysis of the heat transfer and temperature fields of one pass finned tube bundle cross-flow heat exchanger has been carried out.The spatial distributions of the fluid temperature fields inside and outside the tubes are presented.It is shown that for such flow arrangement,the relation for heat exchanger effectiveness has a simple explicit form.
