  • Due to the effect of centrifugal force the buckling critical pressure of rotating shells is higher than that of non rotating shells. The linear buckling finite element equations of rotating shells are established in this paper. The finite element program MSC/NASTRAN is used to analyse the rotating shells linear buckling and the solution sequence is modified by DMAP (Direct Matrix Abstraction Program) to take into account the effect of centrifugal force.Nonlinear buckling and post buckling behaviors of rotating shells are analysed by geometric nonlinear finite element method, and the effect of centrifugal force is considered by different load step. The initial geometrical imperfection also is discussed in this paper.
