Experimental Investigation of an Adaptive Squeeze Film Damper with Metal Rubber Outer-Ring

  • In this thesis an advanced Adaptive Squeeze Film Damper with Metal Rubber outer Ring (ASFD/MRR) is designed to improve high non linearity of oil film force in conventional Squeeze Film Damper (SFD).It has optimal effect of reducing vibration because it can automatically adjust the film clearance by elastic deformation of the metal rubber.The results of experiments indicate that ASFD/MRR could control the clearance of the film,and the characteristics of oil film force of ASFD/MRR are better than these of SFD.ASFD/MRR could markedly restrain the occurrence of the nonlinear vibration phenomenon such as bistable characteristic,lock up and non synchronous motion and ASFD/MRR can be suitable for wider range of unbalanced level.
