The paper analyzes the influences of the starting conditions on engine starting characteristics, and elucidates the advantages and disadvantages of several testing approaches under various testing conditions: natural ambient starting in a sea-level test cell, starting in a low temperature test cell,and in the mechanically simulated high altitude test cell meeting GJB241[1] requirements for high/low temperature starting test and plateau starting test.
