  • Because general simplified component-level engine start models were based on sub-idle steady-state operating line relationships, these models are not capable of simulating startup well for different engine starting operations. In this paper,a new one dimensional mathematical model based on component matching principles has been developed for simulating engine startup.A small turbofan engine starting operation as an example was simulated by using this model.According to modeling results,we find that the model developed in this paper captured a small pressure overshoot prior to stabilizing and combustor blowout in initial accelerating phase.
