Effect of Axial Spacing between Rotor and Stator on Axial Compressor Stability

  • The effect of stator on axial compressor aerodynamic stability was studied both theoretically and experimentally for a low speed compression system.The theoretical analysis shows that stator could suppress flow disturbances in compressors and enhance the compressor stability,in case of the stator does not stall first.The experimental results of a low speed single stage compressor show that stall flow coefficient decreases with the decrease of the axial spacing between rotor and stator because of the increasing influence of the stator.
