Numerical Investigation on Heat Transfer in a Rotating Cavity with Axial Throughflow Cooling Air

  • To investigate the heat transfer in heated rotating cavities with axial throughflow cooling air,numerical simulations have been carried out based on the time-independent incompressible equations in rotating system.The effects of unstable flow and various forces on heat transfer were studied,and the heat transfer coefficient variations with Reynolds number and Rayleigh number were calculated.The results show that the heat transfer in a rotating cavity with axial throughflow cooling air is enhanced with the increase of the inertia force and buoyancy force,and is weakened with the increase of the Coriolis force.The heat transfer coefficient rises with Reynolds number,and varies slightly with the increase of Rayleigh number.The sudden enhancement of heat transfer is caused by the penetration of cooling air through the disc cavity.
