Exploratory Experimental Investigation of Kerosene/Air Two-Phase Pulse Detonation Engine

  • Using kerosene as fuel and air as oxidizer,two-phase detonation experiments were successfully conducted in two pulse detonation engine models with the diameters of 30 mm and 50 mm respectively.A variety of devices and means promoting the initiation of detonation were tested,and fully developed repetitive C-J detonation waves were obtained during the experiments.It's found that successful two-phase pulse detonations can be achieved in tubes with diameters less than cell size of mixtures.By means of heating kerosene and the tube wall,the ignition and the subsequent detonation initiation were promoted markedly.
