Determination of Lubricant Elastic Shear Modulus under Conditions of High Pressure and High Shear Rates

  • Traction coefficients of the new aviation lubrication oil were measured on a self-made test rig.The formula for calculating the elastic shear modulus of rollers with lubricant under conditions of high pressure and high shear rates was presented.The expressions relating effective elastic shear modulus of rollers with lubricant to the lubricant elastic shear modulus were derived.Using the new aviation lubrication oil as an example,the effective elastic shear modulus were calculated in various operating conditions.The results show that both the elastic shear modulus and the lubricant elastic shear modulus increase with the increase of pressure,and the higher the pressure and the lower the temperature and rolling speed,the greater the effect of the tangential compliance on shear deformation will be.
