Effect of flow parameters and equivalence ratio on the trapped vortex combustor performance

  • Trapped Vortex Combustor(TVC) is a simple,compact and high performance gas turbine combustor.The TVC design consisted of two parts,a pilot combustor for stable combustion and a main combustor for power.The effect of a variety of parameters such as inlet temperature,airflow rate and equivalence ratio on the performance of TVC had been studied.Experimental results show:(1) the ignition of the TVC is independent of the main airflow rate in the range of 0.45~0.7 kg/s;(2) the lean blowout limit is improved with a decrease in airflow rate and with a increase of inlet flow temperature of 360~510 K;(3) combustion efficiency improves with the increase of equivalence ratio to the maximum value of 99% in the range of overall equivalence ratio between 0.34~0.4.
