Effects of mean stress and its scatter on vibrational reliability of structures

  • Based on traditional structural vibration analysis,the effects of mean stress and its scatter have been introduced into the vibrational reliability model of structures by use of Goodman curve and the interference theory of stress and strength.Combined with other relative parameters' scatter,the vibrational reliability model has been established separately while considering mean stress to be deterministic and stochastic,and the corresponding formulations and procedures for reliability computation have been presented.Compared with Monte-Carlo simulation,the numerical results indicate that the model proposed in this paper is reasonable and feasible,meanwhile they also indicate that reliability decreased as the mean stress and/or its scatter increased.
