Performance analysis of aero-valve in pulse detonation engine

  • Two types of aero-valve including bi-swirl and blunt type were designed incorporated with air-blast atomization mechanism.Results of experiments and numerical simulation show that integrate design of aero-valve with air-blast atomizer can improve the distribution of the fuel spray field effectively,and reduce the distance of engendering detonable mixture.Although bi-swirl aero-valve is superior to blunt aero-valve due to its fine atomization and mixing,thrust loss is higher.Numeric simulations results of the process with inlet closed show that large eddies fall off and break into small eddies which increase turbulence intensity greatly.
