Experimental research of instability of kevin-helmholtz wave on conical sheets

  • The fragmenting images of meridian plane of conical liquid sheet under different nozzle pressure were obtained with Particle Image Velocimetry(PIV) system.Also,the characteristic parameters of conical liquid sheet with centrifugal nozzle,such as half-cone angle and breakup length,were measured under different liquid pressures.The variations of nozzle liquid pressure on half-cone angle and breakup length have been analyzed.The empirical formula of parameter C was obtained from experimental results,whereby the dispersion relation was solved to obtain the wavelength at breakup point of sheet under different pressures.The predicted results were compared with experimental results,finding that the trend of predicted data fully corresponds to the experimental results.
