FEM simulation of cracked gear body under elastic supporting condition

  • The dynamic characteristics of the fault gear were simulated using ANSYS numerical analytical software,if the gear and shaft are considered to have an elastic support relationship.The changes of dynamic characteristics of rear gear in the case of crack faults were studied in order to analyze the influences of different kinds of faults upon the dynamic characteristics.The results show that,the dynamic characteristics are influenced by the position and the size of cracks,and the position has a bigger influence than the size of crack,namely, the crack in the middle of gear body is more influential than the outer crack.Moreover,the setting method of elastic supporting boundary condition was studied during simulation process,and also compared with the fixed supporting and free supporting boundary conditions.The analytical results and findings provide an approach to study the fault causes and diagnosis of gear.
