Turbulent combustion flow field calculation for afterburner with heat shied

  • In an arbitrary curvilinear coordinate system, numerical simulation was performed for 3D turbulent combustion flow field of the afterburner with the cross-rippled heat shield, outer cold passage and jet nozzle.The body-fitted grids were generated using a system of elliptical partial differential equations.The k-ε model was employed to describe the turbulent characteristics.EBU-Arrehenius turbulent combustion model was used to determine the chemical reaction rate, while a six-flux model was applied to predict heat radiation and its influence on the wall and gas temperature.The discretion of governing equations in a non-staggered grid system was obtained by hybrid scheme and was solved with SIMPLE algorithm.The influences of two different inlet gas parameter distributions on afterburner flow characteristics and wall temperature profiles were analyzed numerically.Calculations were in good agreement with the experimental data and show that numerical procedures are fairly reasonable.
