  • A source term model was applied to numerical simulation of a vane vortex generator, where the lift force created by a vane vortex generator was used as one part of the prototype of source term model, and a normal force was introduced as the other one.The source term depends on the shape, size and location of the vane and the freestream conditions.During numerical simulation, the vane was located on a flat plate, with its height about one fifth of the thickness of local boundary layer.The calculated results of "lift & normal force" source term model were compared under the same conditions with the calculated results and experimental data for a full gridded vane vortex generator.This source term model helps to predict the velocity and vortex fields in consistent with a full gridded vane vortex, but the grid number reduces by 65%.
