Experimental research on particle damping of cantilever beam

  • The nonlinear change characteristics of dampers dependently from particle parameters were analyzed based on the cantilever beam with filling particles.And, the influence of changing parameters of particles and structures on the damping effect was also studied systematically.The results show: particle damper enables the damping ratio to reach up to 492%;the damping effect improves with the growing density of particles;the best damping ratio occur at the filling ratio of 70%;the particle damping effect is improved when particles are embedded into holes with higher amplitude of vibration.
