Mechanical analysis of single fiber pull-out on ceramic matrix composites

  • Amechanical model of single fiber pull-out for composites was established if considering the interfacial frictional sliding.The expressions of the matrix axial stress,the fiber axial stress and interfacial shear stress including Poisson's effect were obtained.As for SiC/RBSNceramic matrix composites,the stress distributions of fiber,matrix and interfaces was analyzed under partial debonding/slipping and full debonding.The calculated results were well consistent with the finite element results,showing that the variable fiber volume fraction could change the failure point of debonding/slipping on the interface.The debonding propagation of interface occurs more easily in partial debonding/slipping than in full debonding.The stress distribution changes little if only the interface friction coefficient is increased without considering fiber/matrix thermal mismatch.
