Plenum chamber casing treatment——numerical research of internal flow and mechanism of stall margin improvements

  • The influence of plenum chamber casing treatment on the performance of high loaded and high-speed fan rotor was analyzed through steady simulation.The results indicate that the performance of the same casing treatment differs greatly under different rotational speeds.At the design speed,the casing treatment fails to improve the stall margin of fan rotor,and the efficiency declines by 2.8%.at non-design speed,it enhances significantly the stability of the rotor,without impairment of the rotor performance.The in-depth analysis of the flow field in the casing treatment reveals the inherent mechanism of stall margin improvements by the plenum chamber casing treatment.
