A porous medium model for simulating leakage flows through brush seals

  • The bristle pack was treated as porous medium.Amomentum source term which was caused by the porous medium was added into the momentum equation.The method to determine porosity of the pack was examined in detail and the porosity was obtained based on the experimental results.So a porous medium model for simulating the leakage through brush seals was built up.The computational results,after correction,show a good agreement with the experimental results.The model was proved to be practicable for predicting the leakage of brush seals.
