Flow and heat transfer investigation in pre-swirl inflow rotor-stator cavity

  • In order to investigate the flow and heat transfer in a pre-swirl rotor-stator cavity with two air inflows(central air flow and pre-swirl inflow at stator rim respectively) and two outflows(radial outflow at outer shroud and axial outflow at rotor rim respectively),a numerical study was conducted by using computational fluid dyrramics(CFD) software CFX5.7 with shear stress transport(SST) turbulence model.The computational results agree well with the test results.The results show that,rotating Reynolds number,non-dimensional flow velocities and pre-swirl ratio have different effects on the flow structure and heat transfer characteristics in the rotor-stator cavity by computing four different conditions.
