Experimental study of flow field of a model combustor with two swirlers

  • The flow field of a model combustor with double axial swirlers was studied experimentally using particle image velocimetry(PIV) technology in this paper.The flow field structure of side-and end-view velocity profile of the combustor and the effect of swirler parameters on recirculation zone were analyzed.It is concluded that the flow field structure in the combustor is irregular with two non-axisymmetrical eddies on the central axis,the jets from the primary holes pass at different depth,and streamwise vortex exists in the flow field.The recirculation zone could be expanded with the reduction of cross area and swirl number of primary swirler,or the increase of swirl number of secondary swirler,meanwhile,the recirculation zone could be diminished with the increase of cross area of secondary swirler.
