Numerical investigation of effect of static bush with rub-grooves on the straight-through labyrinth seal leakage

  • A numerical investigation of influence of rub-grooves in the inner surface of static adradable bush on the leakage of a straight-through labyrinth seal was conducted,while the shape of rub-grooves and relative axial/radial locations of labyrinth teeth tips and the groove were studied.The results show that the rub-grooves not only change the flow direction of the jet and decrease the residual energy,but also affect the change of throttle location and the throttle area of the teeth tips,presenting great influence on the sealing performance of the labyrinth seal.
