Finite element analysis of thermal conductivity of three dimensional and five directional braided composites

  • The finite element model for thermal conductivity was established based on the micro-structure of 3-D & 5-Dbraided composites and the assumption of the braiding yarn with the hexagon section and the axial yarn with the square section.The transverse and longitudinal thermal conductivity coefficients of 3-D & 5-Dbraided composites were calculated by the finite element method and compared with the corresponding results of 3-D & 4-Dbraided composites.The influences of the braiding angle and fiber volume fraction on the thermal conductivity coefficient were also analyzed.In addition,the distributions of the temperature,the thermal gradient and thermal flux of composites were determined,providing a basis for the analysis of the coupling problem of thermo-mechanics.
