Numerically investigate the effects of freestream turbulence on dynamics of a low-pressure turbine stage

  • Based on SSTturbulence model coupled with Langtry-Menter transition model,a three-dimensional,vicous,steady CFDanalysis was performed for investigating the effects of freestream turbulence on the dynamics of a LPturbine stage at different Reynolds numbers.From the CFDprediction results,the rules of freestream turbulence effects on the flow mechanics on blade suction surface,and on Reynolds number effects on this LPturbine stage efficiency were obtained.Also,based on a kind of loss separation method,freesteam turbulence effects on the flow loss components,such as the profile loss,the endwall boundary loss,and the tip clearance loss inside this LPturbine stage were further distinguished.
