Damage failure analysis for composite bolted joints with tightening torque subjected to static loadings

  • A damage failure method was developed to predict the static strength and failure modes of composite bolted joints along with three-dimensional finite element technique.The damage status for different types of joints,the whole process of failure initiation,propagation and catastrophic failure of the structure were also simulated.The predicted results and X-radiographs of specimens were compared.The results of experiments and simulation are very consistent,showing the successful ultimate strength simulation capability of the model.
