Influence of fiber Poisson contraction on matrix cracking development of ceramic matrix composites

  • The influence of fiber Poisson contraction on matrix cracking development of ceramic matrix composites under unidirectional tensile was studied in this paper.The micro stress field was analyzed by combining the Coulomb's friction law and the Lame formulation.The matrix cracking development was determined by the critical matrix strain energy criterion and the fracture mechanics interface de-bonding criterion.The influence of interface friction coefficient,fiber Poisson ration,interface de-bonding toughness and the fiber volume fraction on the interface de-bonding and matrix cracking development was discussed in this article.The present analysis was compared with the results under the assumption of the constant interface shear stress.
