Effects of flow split among swirlers and primary holes on the lean blowoff limits of a combustor with swirl cup

  • An experimental research was conducted for the effect of flow split among swirlers and primary holes on the lean blowoff(LBO) limits of a single dome rectangular model combustor with dual-radial swirl cups.It's found that the decrease of air into the swirlers will improve the lean blowoff limits about 18%,and the air flowrate of the inner swirler has the greatest impact on the blow-out limits.Besides,the decrease of air into primary holes will increase the combustor lean blowoff limits about 13.1%.If the air flux into both the swirl cups and primary holes was cut down,the blowout fuel-air ratio would be reduced further,helping to widen the stability limits of combustors.
