Numerical simulation of plasma-based separation control over a hump

  • Using the simplified model of plasma generator,this paper solved electric equation to obtain the electric field and the plasma distribution,and then coupled the electrical force on the ions to flow equation.The results indicate that the electrical field could induce air flowing nearby the electrode interface and generate "wall surface jet flow" effect,increasing the fluid momentum and greatly improving the velocity in the boundary layer.Compared with the flow without plasma,the separation point was deferred about 4% chord,the attachment point was moved up approximately 12% chord,thus the separation scope was reduced obviously.In addition,increasing the voltage and exposing electrode to the surrounding air can enhance the plasma control ability.
