Measurements of the flow fields in a model annular combustor using particle image velocimetry

  • The cold and combustion flow fields were measured by particle imaging velocimetry(PIV) in a model annular combustor with the dual-stage swirler.Influences of different inlet temperatures on generations of re-circulation zone and distributions of gas velocities were investigated experimentally in the non-reacting and reacting flow fields.Experimental data shows the lengths of re-circulation zone of combustion flows are shorter than that of cold flows,and reacting fluctuating velocities are larger than non-reacting fluctuating velocities.In addition,the length of re-circulation zone decreases slightly with the increase of the inlet temperature in the non-reacting and reacting flow fields.
