A 3-D dynamic stall inception analysis method was developed based on the 3-D unsteady Euler equations and the 3-D actuator-disk model. The stall inception of the first stage of a high compressor was studied using this method. The compressors were designed using 3-D method, showing that the characteristics of the rotor are different in the radial direction,so three different static-to-total pressure ratios of rotor were studied in this paper, and the effects on the stall inception were investigated. The results show that this method can compute the 3-D stall inception of the axial compressor, the 3-D space configuration of stall cell, and also the effects of 3-D characteristic of rotor on the stability. This method is also able to detect the dangerous section of the compressor which is helpful to study the stability in multi-stage compressors.
