Investigation on liquid/solid phase change heat transfer of aircraft icing

  • The liquid/solid phase change heat transfer characteristics of aircraft icing were investigated based on the theories of liquid-solid phase change.The analysis model for the growth of film and ice was established and the influence of airflow parameters on the characteristics and rate of icing accretion was analyzed.The results indicate that the accretion rate of icing is not only influenced by the airflow parameters but also influenced by the inner heat transfer of each phase.The heat transfer in solid and liquid phase shall be taken into account as an important method to improve the precision of icing prediction.The current model predicts the ice growth rates and ice type relatively well in consideration of the nonlinear characteristics of liquid/solid phase change.
