  • The paper presented the initial development of an improved two-equation low-Reynolds-number(LRN) turbulence model with transition sensitivity, based on the Launder-Sharma(LS) turbulence model.Several modifications were made for LS model's disadvantage on realizablity and stagnation point anomaly. The improved model only uses local variables. No need of calculating wall distance,y+ and boundary layer integral parameters makes it can be used for a wide range of flows, and this feature also makes it more easily implemented into general-purpose computational fluid dynamics(CFD) codes. The numerical simulation results of T3A test,a zero pressure gradient transitional flat plate boundary layer flow experiment, with detailed experimental data shows that the improved model can predict transitional flow, including an appropriate response to freestream turbulence intensity variety.
