Investigation of nozzle vector control using synthetic jet actuator

  • Novel fluidic actuators based on synthetic jet technology were used to experimentally investigate the effectiveness on the flow vector control.In the proper conditions,the primary jet's vector could change at angles exceeding 30 degrees.It is proved that the alteration of flow vector angle is correlated with not only the actuator parameter,the flow velocity and flow rate,but also with the downstream wrap sucking field with low pressure,which is formed by the action of "vortex pair" during the actuator operating.It is also closely correlated with the coupling effect between the vortex pair and the free shearing layer.This is treated as the mechanism of vector control.
