Aerodynamic performance research of propellers based on CFD technology

  • Unsteady compressible Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations in absolute coordinate system were solved to simulate the flow around propeller for yawing-configurations. A moving chimera-grid methodology combined with multigrid scheme and a fully implicit dual-time stepping method for simulating the viscous flows over propellers were presented. For zero-yaw configurations,the numerical results agreed well with the experimental data; and for yawing configurations,the results were compared with 1P (once-per-revolution) method. Both cases validate the method. The periodical characteristics of propeller performance at different yaw angles provide a guideline for propeller design.
